American Diabetes Wholesale and Author Marlene Koch, RD Launch Destination Diabetes™
The American Diabetes Association estimates that 20.8 million children and adults in the United States have diabetes and of that number, 6.2 million are unaware that they have the disease. To assist in the education of people living with diabetes, American Diabetes Wholesale, a discount provider of diabetic supplies to individuals without insurance, underinsured or paying out of pocket, will be launching Destination Diabetes™, a free information portal that provides credible and useful information on a variety of health and wellness topics ranging from articles on diabetes management to diabetes friendly recipes and food lists.
To assist in the site launch on Tuesday, June 24, 2008, Marlene Koch, RD, best-selling author, professional cooking instructor and nutrition educator, will be available to answer questions via live chat from 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. (EDT). The first 50 people who sign on will receive a free copy of her new cookbook, Marlene Koch’s Sensational Splenda Recipes: 375 Recipes Low in Sugar, Fat and Calories, and Marlene will also be giving away two 30-minute consultation sessions where she will share her secrets to bridging the gap between good food and good health.
“Our customers look to us as a trusted ally in the fight against diabetes,” said Chris Maguire, Vice President and Co-Founder of American Diabetes Wholesale. “The creation of Destination Diabetes was a natural progression and working with Marlene, a well respected nutritional advisor among the diabetes community, is helping us to provide better tools, resources and useful information to the people who need it most.”
The Destination Diabetes website will include a number of key features including a Destination Diabetes Advisory Panel comprised of experienced professionals and educators who have a diabetes specialty. Marlene Koch will serve as the Diabetes Nutrition Advisor and contribute nutrition-centric articles and recipes on a monthly basis.
Additionally, the site will also offer articles pertaining to diabetes management, a weekly e-newsletter and the ability for subscribers to share information and experiences with others. For more information, please visit Destination Diabetes on June 24th.
