Mike Golic

ADW Diabetes recently had the opportunity to talk to retired NFL star and current ESPN Radio personality Mike Golic. Golic is continuing his work with Merck on a new program called ‘The Game Plan’ as they attempt to bring easy to use and understand tools to the public about diabetes care and management.

Golic was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes in 2005 and had to make major changes in his nutrition and exercise programs so he could take control of his health. Through hard work and dedication to his ‘Game Plan’, Golic has successfully applied what it takes to lead a healthy life to his lifestyle, and he wants to see that others have the tools needed to do the same.

Below is our conversation with Mike Golic.

Q: It has been ten months since we have last talked. Can you give us a quick update on the ‘Blood Sugar Basics’ program that you are working on with Merck and the goals you were working towards?

A: Yes. We wanted to create a place where people with diabetes could go to with their questions. And we wanted to be a source that provides easy answers to those questions. I think that we have accomplished that goal and we continue to add new content to the site allowing us to further educate anyone that wants to learn more about diabetes management.

Q: How has the program been received thus far?

A: It has been fantastic. And it has prompted us to go back and get more useful information to put out there. The program is sponsored by The American College of Endocrinology (ACE) and with the great support of Merck, we have built a platform that provides great quality information.
