We were using the alpha trak 2 before, and these test strips are much easier to use as they pick up the blood much easier than the old strips.

I have to be honest, this is an improvement in some ways over the AT2 but on the other hand, for the price of the strips they should not fail as often as they do. They're harder to push in than the old ones were so it takes longer to push in the strip and then draw the blood, which if it doesn't go perfectly into the receptacle, can often cause a strip to fail. Your cat wants to shake her head? Better count on using at least two strips, if not more. Appreciate the small drop of blood needed but wish they'd address these performance issues that didn't happen with the AT2.
