  • Comparable to BDs at about 1/4 price

" I'm a type 1 diabetic so I use a lot of needles. I've tried several brands of pen needles in an effort to find a product that I could live with and save money over the very good but exceedingly expensive BD needles. All of them had some major issues...until I tried these. These Advocate pen needles are of very high quality and hold up well in a comparison to the BDs. Unlike many "off brands", the Advocate needles have identical packaging (except for color) to the BDs, where each needle is hermetically sealed in a "thimble" with a peel-off paper tab (not shown in the ADW photo) and a separate needle protection sleeve. I have used an entire box of 100 and did not encounter a single "dud"; no loose needles, no bent needles, no bad threads, no bad tips (blunt, hooked, etc.). Every one was sharp and I felt no difference in pain using these compared to the BDs. The only minor thumbs down I can give them is that the thimble is sometimes not tight enough to extract the needle from the pen after use (usually when the pen is newer and the rubber seal is more virgin) and you have to resort to pulling the needle off of the pen directly. I still gave these 5 stars even with this minor issue because of the terrific price and the fact that they have all of the lengths available; including the 3/16" (5mm) that I prefer. If you have been looking for a cheaper alternative to the BDs, try these Advocate needles; I think you will be very pleasantly surprised! Also, kudos to ADW; my order shipped quickly and the price is excellent! "

  • Nearly as good as the BD needles

" I've gone through 2 boxes of these so far. I haven't had a single bad needle. In my opinion, the comfort/pain level is identical to the BD. The only minor negative compared to the BD is that it is slightly more difficult to screw the needle on the pen. It feels like this is because the pen side of the needle is cut off square instead of at a point, but I haven't actually pulled out a microscope to see. In any case, it is a very very minor functional difference between the BD and at 1/4-1/2 the price these are a clear winner. "

  • Way better than BD

" Love the price and quality! I am REALLY picky when it comes to needles. Waiting on a new insulin pump and dreaded taking shots again. These needles are an awesome price and excellent quality. Will never buy BD again! "

  • 8 months on and still loving them

" I was the one who wrote the, surprisingly, only review for these needles on ADW. I just wanted to chime back in and say that I have now been using these needles exclusively for 8 months (many hundreds of needles) and have STILL not gotten even one bad one. Heck, I had one or two dud BD needles in that many when I was using them...I am impressed! They still have the occasional issue with the thimble not always being tight enough to pull the needle from the pen after use and I still don't find that to be a big issue. When this happens, you can either give the thimble a bit of a squeeze at the base to increase its grip or just pull the needle off directly. Purchasing these needles from ADW is cheaper for me than the copay for BD's through my insurance (and it's good insurance). Seriously folks, try a box of these; you'll be impressed! "
