I just wanted to share my experience with the AlphaTRAK Glucose Meter. This meter has given us drastically different readings in a 15 min window taking blood from the same site with no food given to our dog. See the examples below:
1/1/14
7:13 am - blood sugar 36
7:16 am - blood sugar 182; we gave karo syrup just in case 36 was a true reading
7:27 am - blood sugar 362
1/3/14
6:57 am - blood sugar 56
7:02 am - blood sugar 409 (blood taken from same elbow and not food given)
1/26/14
7:07 am - blood sugar 93
7:09 am - blood sugar 450
7:10 am - blood sugar 75
Inaccurate readings from this meter could have deadly implications for our dog. These inconsistent readings have caused us to adjust our pet's insulin so we would not overdose him and have resulted in his glucose curve becoming very wide range - also very dangerous.
Anyone else experience this?
