On March 23rd is Diabetes Alert Day. This day, initiated by the American Diabetes Association, is a day to alert people (mostly without diabetes) about their risk of getting pre-diabetes or Type 2 diabetes. If you go to the ADA website (diabetes.org) or go to: www.stopdiabetes.com
you or your friends/family can take the Diabetes Risk Test. Some factors that increase your risk are: weight, age, family history of diabetes, ethnic background, and blood pressure. These factors will clue you into your risk: low risk, at risk or high risk.
There are factors that you can control: weight or blood pressure and factors you have no control over: age, ethnic background, family history.
