  • Desserts: sugar vs. sugar-free

    Many of my patients are eating sugar-free foods. the issue is that they assume it has no impact on their blood sugar and no calories (I guess!) so they overeat! Do you tend to lean toward sugar-free foods; whether it be candies, cookies, snacks, ice cream, etc. or regular (or even low-fat) foods? I must warn people to look closely at the amount of artery-clogging/cholesterol building saturated fat that tends to show up in higher amounts in some of these low-carb products. Not all of them! but be aware and keep your eyes open.
