Best Breakfast Oatmeal

Ingredients

  • 3 cups skim milk
  • 1 1/2 cups quick-cooking oats
  • 1/3 cup dried fruit bits or raisins
  • 1 medium apple
  • 3 tbsp raw, unsalted, sunflower seeds, toasted
  • 1/4 – 1/2 tablespoon maple extract
  • 2 1/2 – 3 1/2 tsp Equal for Recipes (8 to 12 packets Equal sweetener or 1/3 to 1/2 cups Equal Spoonful)
  • 2 to 3 dashes of salt
  • Ground cinnamon

Directions

  1. Peal and core apple and cut into cubes.
  2. In a medium sauce pan, combine milk oats, fruit bits or raisins, apple, sunflower seeds and maple extract.
  3. On medium high heat, bring mixture to boil, stirring constantly. Reduce heat and simmer until thickened (about 2-3 minutes)
  4. Stir in Equal and salt
  5. Serve warm or hot with a sprinkle of cinnamon on top
